Tom Novak and I watched – or tried to watch – the #AppleLive announcement yesterday – and talked with GW Today about our reactions.
At the first ever #OReillySolid conference, a parrot drone, roomba and a sphero are dancing in response to real time programming and keeping time with separate coordinated music tracks. Impressive.
At the Intel keynote, I LOVED the smart charging Bowl – throw all your devices in the bowl and it charges them. No plugs! Totally cool. Plus, the Smart Earbuds are a great idea. CEO Brian Krzanich did a great job showcasing Intel’s play in the Internet of Things. The smart onesie that quantifies baby’s vitals – powered by "Edison" a pentium computer the size of a thumb! – is perfect for helicopter parents.
Show opens tomorrow. Stay tuned!
The new June smart bracelet is definitely cool and swank – who wants to get skin cancer? – but also who has an arm long enough (or a wallet big enough) for all these different single-purpose devices?
This Smart Bracelet That Measures Sun Exposure Is Gorgeous
Apple’s press conference today was underwhelming (Elvis Costello’s set was the most exciting part!), But beyond all the twittering over new colors is Apple’s inclusion of the M7 chip on the iPhone 5S that can keep track of what the accelerometer, gyroscope and compass are doing. Coupled with software that developers can use to manage the sensors means the new iPhone 5S could be your new fitness device, fancy geo-locator, and more. Good news for those of us who have grown frustrated with the poor quality of Nike’s Fuel Band.
